Most infrared lamps are just too short. If you’re running a long tempering tunnel, you end up with these annoying little gaps between the lamp units. Those gaps create cold spots. And in this business, cold spots are a nightmare. They lead to uneven heating, which means your glass either distorts or, worse, just snaps. We fixed this by building continuous heating units that stretch past 2 meters. No gaps. No guesswork. The struggle with length You can’t just stretch a quartz tube and call it a day. If a tube gets too long, it starts to sag under its own weight. Then it breaks. Simple as that. To stop that from happening, we use heavy-wall quartz and reinforced clips to keep everything dead straight. Then there’s the power. If you don’t get the ohms exactly right, you’ll get voltage drops. You’ll end up with a lamp that’s screaming hot at one end and barely lukewarm at the other. Your glass won’t hit the softening point consistently, and you’ll be staring at a pile of scrap. We do the math on the wattage and voltage to make sure the heat is steady from the first centimeter to the last. Getting rid of the “Zebra Effect” We set these long units up in a continuous array. It kills that “zebra effect” you see with modular setups. Instead of patchy heat, the glass gets a steady, unbroken stream of short-wave radiation. Just a heads-up: check your electrical panels. These high-wattage arrays pull a ton of current. If your wiring is too thin, your voltage will tank and your heating speed will crawl. It’s not worth the headache. The honest trade-offs I won’t lie to you—longer lamps are a pain to swap out. If a technician is clumsy with the quartz ends during installation, they’ll snap. We really suggest using specialized jigs for replacements so you don’t lose a tube to a slip of the hand. Also, keep an eye on your frame. These units put out a massive amount of heat. If your cooling fans aren’t up to the task, you’ll cook your control sensors. Make sure your cooling system can actually handle the load before you flip the switch.
