
Why Most Infrared Heaters Die (And How We Fixed It)
Here is the truth about infrared heaters: moisture is their worst enemy. Usually, they fail for two simple reasons. Either water sneaks into the electrical terminals, or condensation builds up on the quartz glass and ruins everything. We got tired of seeing that happen, so we built our IP65 line to stop it. If you aren’t familiar with the lingo, IP65 basically means the unit is totally dust-tight and can handle water jets hitting it from any direction without flinching.
Dealing with the Splash
In a real-world shop, things get messy. You’ve got splash-back, humidity, and grime. If your heater doesn’t have a sealed chassis, water just seeps inside. That leads to short circuits or a heating element that burns out way sooner than it should. To fix this, we used heavy-duty sealed gaskets and specific cable glands. It keeps the internal wiring bone-dry. Then there’s the fogging issue. You know how a lens fogs up in a humid room? The same thing happens to heaters. That layer of fog acts like a wall, blocking the heat from getting out and forcing the internal element to overheat. We tweaked the geometry and the seals to keep the airflow right and the surface clear. No more foggy lenses.
The One Catch
Now, total sealing comes with a trade-off. Because the unit is airtight, heat builds up inside the housing more than it would in a cheap, open-frame heater. Just a heads-up: make sure your mounting bracket gives the back of the unit some breathing room. If it can’t dissipate heat from the rear, you might trip the thermal cutoff.
